Salsa Dance Shoes

It's after 10 on a Friday night at the Majestic, a new club on the second floor of a shopping center in the International District. DJ Victor spins his tunes, a mix of classic and modern salsa, with some merengue and bachata tossed in. The dance floor is small, so there's no place for a beginner to hide.

In walks a siren in a scarlet halter dress and salsa dance shoes. They call her Julianne. The ruffled slit in the front of her dress reveals enough thigh to taunt admirers and enough freedom for her to straddle the leg of the lucky dance partner who leads her into a back-bending dip. She sits down at a table to change into her dance shoes, black leather platforms with three-inch heels and criss-cross straps.

She steps on the floor with a man who is nearly invisible next to her and begins to salsa. One-two-three, five-six-seven. She moves her hips, aware of every one of her curves. One-two-three, five-six-seven. She does a double turn. Quick-quick-slow, quick-quick-slow. She twists her waist right and left, her feet in a flurry of shines. Quick-quick-slow, quick-quick-slow.

Salsa Dance Shoes for Dancers

Salsa dancing is not new. But, in the past several years, it has blossomed in Seattle. With little effort, anyone can step into the drama, the soap opera, of the Seattle salsa dance scene. The dance is blind to ethnicity, age and ability. Professionals and beginners share the floor happily and strut their salsa dance shoes.
